LASERLOOP
Newsom Eye has made cataract surgery potentially safer and more efficient with LaserLoop. Cataract surgery is one of the most widely performed procedures in the world. Over the past few decades, there have been significant advances in cataract surgery including the advent of premium lens implants, which can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses following cataract removal, as well as the Newsom Bladeless Laser Cataract Surgery technique, which can help make cataract surgery more precise and predictable than ever before.
Now, our Newsom Eye team can reduce the amount of energy and time spent performing cataract surgery by using an innovative device called LaserLoop. Using micro-thin super-elastic, self-expanding nitinol filament technology, the LaserLoop allows cataract surgeons to fragment the cataract or lens into tiny little pieces for easier extraction through a process called phacoemulsification. This simplistic, but innovative device has the potential to make cataract surgery safer and more efficient by dramatically reducing, or potentially eliminating, the need for ultrasound energy.
