The results are in! Newsom Eye’s own Courtney Bovee, MD, was elected as the secretary/treasurer of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO). Elections for a new cabinet were held during the FSO’s Annual Business Meeting in Palm Beach on July 10th. Javier Perez, MD, was announced as the organization’s new president, with his cabinet comprising of Joseph Nezgoda, MD, as president-elect, Ahad Mahootchi, MD, as vice president of advocacy, Raquel Goldhardt, MD, as vice president of education, and Ankit Shah, MD, as vice president of outreach.
The Florida Society of Ophthalmology is a nonprofit medical society aimed at conserving the specialty of ophthalmology. The FSO is custodian to its over 500 physician members and provides continuing medical education to them and other healthcare professionals in the name of advancing patient care in the realm of comprehensive eye care. They are responsible for the distribution of responsible information regarding eye health and care, as well as the highest standard of healthcare from medical professionals to Floridians across the state.
